NYC Geek Meet
I've been in hibernation for a decade (out of IT) and that was the first geek meet-up i've been to in so much time... The only expectations I had were to meet the cool folks that showed up. I got there early, so I hung out and people watched. Hey, there is nothing more amusing to me than imagining what other people's lives are as they run for their trains, grab a snack, leisurely walk about, look at the floor, read, use your imagination. I am so lame, the only face that I knew was Steve Rubles (micropersuasion). He seems to get it everywhere. Being a PR guy works for him. He does not sit still for a second. Lemme tell ya - I sat at the same table with him, he was boxed in on all sides. Ha, not Steve. he politely excused himself a thousand times to get up and down to chat with everybody in the room.
Anyway, the Scobleizer I recognized because he had a black t-shirt on with white letters that said (BLOGGERS) something. Next, people started multiplying and circling around him. I never did get the chance to meet the cool Mr. Winer. Who knows, maybe next year. Everybody was interesting to talk with and I had a good time. Oh yeah, I even got two of Hugh's cartoon cards out of the dozen or so I exchanged with others.
More cool bloggers: B.L. Ochman (whatsnextonline), Erin Joyce (with Jupiter), Susan Mernit (5ivegroup.net), us guys are: Michael Bouteneff (garagespin), Tom Guarriello (True Talk), Prof. Chienting Lin (pace University), Ryan Saghir (Orbitcast.com), Dr. Andy Jaffe (Imperial College - London) and Mike Dunn (nomadic_audio).
Anyway, it was great to be able to meet other bloggers and to put faces with names/sites; and to talk face to face with people whose blogs I've been reading over the years.
PS: To the gentleman from Morgan please email me or if anybody got this man's name/number/email please let me know! Thanks.
